Border Collie - Sariah - Large - Adult - Female - Dog
I am Sariah's foster mom. Typically I write a bio from my foster dog's perspective but not this one. I am afraid of what I think Sariah would say if she were to write her own bio. First, no matter what Sariah shows you when she first meets you, she absolutely needs a home to call her own. You see, Sariah bonds really fast with her master and she is completely attached to me. She ignores new people which is the only reason that I think she has not found a new home yet. Sadly, as much as we love this perfect girl, she cannot stay with my family forever. Please let me tell you a little bit about her.
Based on Sariah's strong desire to herd and control situations, I would say that she is part border collie or even aussie. She gets along with other dogs but would do best in a situation where she lives with a more submissive dog. Sariah goes lots of places with our family. She loves to hike and loves the water. She is safe off lead and has good recall. Sariah really loves my kid and her favorite place at night is on the floor next to my child's bed. Sariah has no desire to be hugged or man-handled by kids so she needs kids who are respectful of her desire to not be hugged. You see, sometime in Sariah's life before she came to rescue, she must have been jerked by her collar. She does not like for her collar to be touched and she does not like to be told what to do by you grabbing her collar. If you use a treat and positive talk, she will do anything for you!
Sariah is crate and house trained. We no longer use a crate for her, as she is very reliable in the house.
Speaking of past lives, Sariah came to us with little no hair. She either had a flea allergy or she had been fed wheat and corn. There is one spot on her back where the hair will never return. We do feed Sariah a no-grain diet and she does need to stay on a no-grain food to keep her allergies from flaring up. As long as she does not get ahold of wheat, she is fine!
Sariah would be perfect for a family with older kids or even an empty-nester. She is quiet and content in the house and is a non-barker. We think she is pretty perfect and we think you will think so too!
