Pomeranian - Louie - Small - Adult - Male - Dog
Just look in Louie's eyes and you'll see his tender heart. He doesn't let his guard down to show it very often, but underneath his acting out is a very vulnerable boy. You see, Louie, also known as Louis, was taught that humans weren't trustworthy early in his life. He had a home, but was given up because he was unpredictable. His real problem is that he is TOO predictable. Louis reacts poorly to anything not on his terms. If he doesn't want you to pet him on a certain spot, he will growl when you reach it. If he doesn't want you to take his toy away, he will growl and snap when you get near it. Louis is learning how to trust people again- it is a slow process, but the fantastic reward is a tiny kiss on the nose, Louis excitedly bouncing next to you on a walk around the neighborhood, or him snuggling up close to you at night and finally relaxing into being a sweet dog. Louie's issues are manageable. We are working with him on some training to make things easier for his forever family. Louie gets along well with other small dogs that don't try to make him play. He doesn't share well, so he needs to be fed separately. He can play with other dogs at times, but usually makes a pile of toys all for himself and guards it. Louis would do best in a family with one or two people, maybe another canine or feline friend, and lots of patience. No kids or puppies. In addition to his behavioral complications, Louis also appears to have some minor arthritis... another factor that makes him a little grumpier from time to time and will eventually require inexpensive medication to keep him comfortable.
