  • The Non-Private Pay Billing Manager will work with the Director of Reimbursement in all aspects of managing the responsibilities for the billing department including associate hiring, motivation, achievement ofkey metrics, and budget management. The Non-Private Pay Billing Manager will be responsible for effectively managing the billing team to achieve company collections goal in a compliant manner. Therefore specific requirements of the position include but are not limited to:

    •Manage daily operations and task flow of the Non-Private Pay billing team, including
    •Submission of claims via EDI, website portal and HCFA 1500
    •Review of remittance advice and explanation of benefit documents
    •Denial reports
    •Payment posting
    •Credit and adjustment processing
    •Review aging reports, open invoice reports and other reports to ensure collection, aging and bad debt/write-off goals are being met
    •Point of contact for representatives needing assistance with billing/collection issues
    •Engage in business process evaluation, establishment and re-engineering for the Non-Private Pay billing functions
    •Demonstrate understanding of the company's billing software / participate in on-going refinement of the application
    •Interview and make hiring recommendations for new representatives
    •Develop staffing plans, motivational programs and incentive plans to ensure key department metrics are met
    •Coordinate and conduct monthly team meetings
    •Provide timely feedback and coaching as required
    •Conduct and document employee conversations as needed
    •Keep HR and management informed of area activities and significant problems
    •Provide daily, weekly and monthly feedback to the billing representatives based on performance levels
    •Ability to perform all duties of the Non-Private Pay Billing/Payment Posting representatives
    •Complete and conduct annual reviews.
    •Ability to analyze errors and coach employee for performance improvements
    •Conduct monthly employee reviews
    •Develop motivational and team building activities to maintain morale
    •Research information beyond existing procedures as required to meet customer and company needs
    •Work cooperatively with staff from all areas of the company to achieve company goals
    •Maintain a high degree of confidentiality pertaining to team member and customer situations.
    •Conduct on-going training sessions as needed
    •Consistently display initiative in all aspects of the position, including attendance, service delivery, and volunteering for special projects or assignments. Actions always consistent with HDIS’ mission and vision
    •Assist Director of Reimbursement with projects as needed
    •Demonstrate full understanding and acceptance of HDIS mission and vision
    The Non-Private Pay Billing Manager serves as an example for other department members to strive towards and will uphold the culture of HDIS including relationship building with customers and co-workers as well as general behavior on HDIS premises or at other HDIS sponsored events.

    Required Experience or Background

    •Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the billing and collection process for a wide variety of Non-Private Pay payers including Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Insurance organizations
    •Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations associated with Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Insurance organizations
    •A minimum of 5 years of experience billing DME and/or disposable medical supplies to Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Insurance organizations
    •Experience supervising employees
    •Extensive problem solving capabilities
    •Strong written and verbal communication skills
    •Able to work independently and within a team with little supervision
    •Attention to details and accuracy along with strong organization skills
    •Cooperative and willing to assist others
    •Able to use computer applications, adding machine, telephone, PC, copier, fax machine and other basic business machines
    •Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables
    Preferred background would include:

    •Experience and comfort level using Microsoft products including Excel and Word
    •Experience billing diabetic testing supplies
    •Experience and success with Medicare appeals at multiple levels
